You would think before they started a trade war with China they would have thought to stockpile some precious metals. The only time America was truly great was when it was the world's industrial leader in production AND it had a relatively planned economy led by a somewhat independent government. Gee that sounds like China today.

We need to ban them from buying the North Carolina silicon used to make crucibles for chips and solar panels.

Possible to do that, certainly. But do note that the NC silica (not silicon) is only v good for that purpose. It's possible use other materials. The NC is the best, sure, but not the only.

Now just need to deal with the various regulatory agencies and envirohippies that love to do everything they can to prevent Western nations from not relying on China, I mean trying to save the whales, or whatever their excuse is this time.

I finally gave up on newspapers after noticing that everything they wrote about a subject that I know about was invariably wrong... It finally dawned on me that if they were wrong on the things I knew about, they were guaranteed to be wrong on everything else too.
